One-hundred golfers teed off at the Respect 90 Foundation’s First Try Not to Suck in the Desert Golf Classic at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 7. The field featured four Hall of Famers- rocker Alice Cooper, linebacker Brian Urlacher, catcher Pudge Rodriguez and second baseman Ryne Sandberg and three Cy Young Award winners: Rick Sutcliffe, Steve Stone and Eric Gagne.
Two East Valley charities shared in the proceeds: ICAN and Pops and Junior Youth Golf Program.
“It was a great day,” said Respect 90 co-founder Joe Maddon who offered up his vintage 1959 Chevy Bel Air as the prize on the par three hole number 11. The prize went unclaimed. “Thanks to all who supported the event. We had fun and through everyone’s generosity we were able to help some really impactful East Valley charities. The day definitely did not suck.”
Respect 90 is scheduled to host the Second Annual Try Not to Suck at the Beach Golf Classic at Newport Beach (CA) Country Club on August 1. For information in the tournament contact foundation sure be or Rick Vaughn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
