Local Youth Boxers will Compete Versus Boxers from Chicago

HAZLETON, PA— Maddon’s Main Event presented by Joe and Jaye Maddon’s Respect 90 Foundation will take place on Friday, December 20 at the Terrace Plaza Ballroom (601 South Poplar Street) in Hazleton and will include twelve bouts in all with seven between boxers from Chicago inner-city youth boxing clubs and youth from NE PA. Doors open at 6:00 PM. The event will benefit Lou Barletta’s Stop Rhabdomyosarcoma Foundation and the Hazleton Boxing Club.

The Respect 90 Foundation will provide transportation, lodging and meals for boxers from the Chicago Youth Boxing and the Crushers Club.  All of the boxers will also visit the training camp in Deer Lake, PA where Muhammad Ali prepared for many of his fights.

“It’s a definite win-win,” said Maddon, the manager of the Los Angeles Angels. “We’re providing an opportunity for these young people to experience a new frontier in their lives while hosting an event that will benefit two local charities that also change lives. Furthermore, boxing is the perfect way to develop self-discipline that can apply to different parts of any life.”

Individual general admission tickets are $50 and are on sale now at the Hazleton One Community Center (225 East 4th Street).  Sponsorships are also available. For more information, call (570) 233-5309 or go to hazletonintegrationproject@gmail.com.
